Review: Simple Kind To Eyes Revitalising Eye Roll-On

Waking up can be quite tricky some mornings, especially when you haven't had quite enough sleep however, once awake, you some how mange to stumble into the bathroom. You look up, into the mirrir and there they are. The dreaded puffy, under-eye circles. Aggghhhhh!

There is no need to worry any more, however. the Simple Kind To Eyes Revitalising Eye Roll-On is here to save the day!!! The metal roller ball is really cooling and the gel is very refreshing. I find that this really wakes me up in the morning, reduces the puffiness under my eves and my dark circles do appear to be reduced. It also contains cucumber extract. make-up seems to sit really nicely ontop of this too!

This is a product which has definitely become part of my morning skincare routine.

My Hair Journey

I have always had long hair then cut it short. When I made the decision three years ago to keep my hair shoulder length, it was the best choice I made. It made me look grown up, mature and myself. I felt I would hide behind my long hair and I may miss being able to do complicated hairstyles but there is more things you can do with shorter hair than you may think!

I always feel that (like any length hair) you should have well kept short hair, especially when you can't tie it up! I find that changing my shampoos often and at my age, not using conditioner-or a little of it as it can provoke grease- keeps my hair shiny and healthy.

Last year I made the bold (for me) decision to ombre my hair.

If you didn't know already, ombre is another term for 'dip dye', where you dye the ends of your hair a colour (usually blonde) and it fades up to your normal root colour.

I LOVED it as it gave my hair texture and volume but I had to look after it so used a hair mask once a week and Herbal Essences Ignite my Colour Shampoo which kept the colour strength and intensity. (both products mentioned in previous posts).

I did it again this year but not as strong and found it appropiate for school too.

Last week I chose to have layers.

"Lots of layers please", I beamed to my hairdresser, who -after consulting my hair-agreed that it would suit me. I had layers before but not as many as now.

She kept the length and curled my hair for me proving I can have my hair straight or curled. I took my inspiration from Cheryl Fernandez-Versini (Cheryl Cole) who has beautiful hair and is always well conditioned.

The beauty herself!
I have always been open for hair ideas and cuts and this post is to encourage all of you to take a gamble with your hair and experiment.

But ALWAYS look after your hair and keep it in perfect condition.

Hope you all enjoyed!

Lots of Love and Hugs

Recent Purchases: Makeup, Fashion and Random Stuff

Hey Guys,

Today I thought that it would be a good idea to do a Recent Purchases post for my first blog post.

Makeup

The Body Shop had a 3 for 2 offer on across most of their products so I picked a few up, including The Body Shop All-in-One BB Cream in 01 which was £12. I think that 00 may have been a slightly better match for my skin, however this shade does the job. The light coverage is perfect for everyday too. It claims to adapt to your skin which I'm not too sure of, but its still a great product.

The other makeup product that I picked up from The Body Shop was The Body Shop Baked to Last Bronzer in 02 - Warm Glow. This is a shimmery bronzer with 3 different colours to it shown as a marbled effect in the pan. Most of it is made up of the gorgeous warm bronze colour, but there is a nice shimmery highlight in it and a tiny bit of a shimmery pink blush colour to it too. At £16 this isn't cheap and I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't for the 3 for 2 offer, however it does add a really nice glow to my face.

The last product I got from The Body Shop is one of my Holy Grail skincare products and this is The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner. This is £8.50, so isn't that cheap but it does an amazing job at clearing up and preventing spots. It is very gentle, although it can make my skin feel a little dry, but I almost always use a moisuriser straight after applying this, which means that this isn't a problem.

I also took a quick trip to Selfridges where I found this gorgeous Laura Mercier Limited Edition Lip Gloss in Pink Prism! It was on sale for only £10 rather than the normal price of £20! This was probably due to the fact it was from an old collection called 'White Magic'. The applicator is pink which makes it seem so much better and the beautiful pink shade has tiny iridescent sparkles in it which really bring the attention to your lips. Unfortunately, because this is limited edition, you cannot buy it.

I also picked up some Simple Quick Fix Cleansing Wipes which are part of their spotless skin range. I have tried these a couple of times and they are definitely more scratchy than the Simple Kind to Skin Wipes that I love so much, however, I will use them up.

In boots I was looking for a colourful eyeliner to play with an I cam across this Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner in Purple. I've used this a couple of times and I've been quite disappointed. It smudges onto my upper lid after wearing it for about an hour and when i try to remove it, a purple 'stain' is left on my eyelid of the next day or so! I do have quite oily eyelids though.

I then made a small order from H&M, as they have brought out some newer stuff for autumn.

I only got two items of clothing, the first being this cute t-shirt with perfume bottles on it. H&M do this in various patterns and prints, and I already have a few of them. They are great because they are slightly shorter than most tops but aren't as short as crop tops (I'm not really a fan of crop tops). At only £7.99 this is a bargain.

The other top that I got was this turquoise lace style top. I wear a white or blue vest under this and I love the hem  because of the style of it (you can just about see it in the photo). Unfortuantly, I can't find this on the website to link it to! This was slightly more expensive at £12.99 but still a reasonable price.

From the home section, I got 3 of these storage baskets to put at the top of my wardrobe. These are normally £7.99 but I got them, half price, at £3.99 each. These are perfect for storing clothes, shoes and bags. from left to right, I store my apron and casual clothes, bags, and my school sports kit in each of them. These appear to have been discontinued, however these are very similar.

Philosophical Friday: Happiness

I am writing a different kind of post for you lovelies today and if you guys like then I will make this a monthly thing!

Do any of you have those days when you honestly can't be bothered being nice to everyone? Or when that person who constantly gets on your nerves anyways bugs you further? Well those days occur quite often for me but I don't want to be thought of as moody, so I try to preserve my 'smiley' reputation. I feel that life shouldn't be all about popularity, cliches and trends. It should be about getting to know the person inside, the soul behind the persona. Everyone has a story and you just have to listen or be bothered to, to know it. I honestly feel kindness is under rated as noone realises that a simple compliment like 'Your hair looks really nice today,' can put a smile on someones face for the whole day. Sadly, compliments are being replaced with catty insults which, if someone is very sensitive or the comment was brutally mean, can leave someone in floods of tears. Think to yourself, did I give someone a compliment today? Yesterday? A week ago? The chances are you probably didn't but if you did try and remember the person's reaction. You will most likely have been rewarded with a toothy smile and one returned. I sometimes smile at the sight of making someone else happier because of something I said.

From www.theminimalists.com, not my own photo.
It is very hard for everyone to accept (myself included) that we all have flaws or imperfections whether they are visible until they are concealed with makeup or if they are flaws in your attitude.

'The best accessory a woman can wear is a smile'
'Happiness is an unexpected compliment'
'A compliment is verbal sunshine.'
'Don't let complimens go to your head or let criticism go to your heart.'
'Train your mind to see good in every situation.'

Keep smiling, living and loving,

Birthday Pressies!

My Birthday was in the Christmas break and I received some lovely pressies from treasured family members and friends. I only wanted to show you the makeup side of things and give you a mini review of each.

My amazing family treated me to a Nars Blusher in Deep Throat (TOP) which has a stunning shimmer of peach running through a coral pink. The pigmentation is beautiful and blends like a dream leaving a pretty flush to the cheeks.

With my christmas present (Naked palette, comment if you would like a review) I received a sample of the Urban Decay Primer Potion and a little goes a long way. It makes your eyeshadows (the Naked palette eyeshadows in my case I'm obsessed) last hours. It is perfect for eyelids which are particularly oily.

My beautiful best friends (love you guys :)) bought me a MAC tinted liglass in the shade Prrr and it is the perfect everyday shade. It has a high gloss shine, moisturises my lips and is very nicely pigmented. This will remain a staple in my makeup bag and will definitely repurchase this!

ANOTHER pressie my beautiful besties bought me was a MAC (can you see the theme here?) Matte eyeshadow in Yoghurt, a great all over the lid colour and (I'm sorry to use the phrase) but my lids but better!
Pigmentation is good and very buildable. Great for a lazy day or colour correcting shade.

The last pressie the girls got me was a free sample that came with purchase, of MAC's expensive strobe cream which originally retails at full size at £23.50. This is gorgeous on top of my cheekbones, I just squeeze out the tiniest bit and pat it along my cheekbones. It blends and highlights them beautifully but subtly.

My relatives bought me a Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker gloss stick in Bashful which is the perfect pinky nude. It is moisturising and my favourite lip combo at the moment is this with MAC's Prrr over the top. I LOVE this gloss stick. It is a pretty colour for every day. And smells like cake!

Review: L'Oreal True Match Foundation

L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation

This may be a little late to review, but when moving into the winter months your skin tone and condition changes dramatically. Although half of winter is over we still have to endure the coming months of January and February so this post may still be of some use to you.

My summer foundation is considerably darker than my skin colour now so I chose this foundation from L'Oreal seeing as it had 22 shades to choose from which I feel is quite remarkable for a highstreet/drugstore product.  The line was coded with 3 sections N, C and W meaning Neutral, Cool and Warm depending on your skin tone.

My shade was C Rose Ivory which I feel matches me practically perfectly and blends beautifully (I use the Real Techniques Buffing Brush for an air-brushed and flawless finish).

Real Techniques Buffing Brush is made of thick synthetic bristles.

The consistency is quite runny, not too much but is easy to buff into the skin and really working your brush creates a flawless canvas. It is quite creamy and rich but I feel it is very light on my skin

Stats;

  • Packaging; Typical plastic lid but nice glass bottle. Ok could be better.
  • Coverage; Light-Medium coverage but buildable, which is why I like it.
  • Price; £9.99 at Boots (3 for 2 on all L'Oreal Cosmetics online offer only)  here and £9.99 at Superdrug here.
  • Range of Shades; 22 in N, C, W.
  • Finish; Can be flawless if built and buffed into skin or natural looking if applied normally.

I am truly impressed with this foundation especially as it is not of a high-end make. I recommend for you to go and get matched with this foundation as I am planning to get matched during the summer season so I can use it then. Definitely go check this out!

Best of Beauty: 2013

So it is now the end of a beauty-tastic year that is 2013! I have tried and tested many products these past months so here it is, without further ado, my Best Beauty Products of 2013!

Being the second foundation I have ever tried but it is obviously thought of as one of the best! Being raved about by so many bloggers made me try it and honestly it truly is the Queen of Drugstore Foundation!
Presenting... Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation. Medium Coverage but buildable.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
Concealer

Yes, I know that this is so youtuber/blogger stereo-typical product, but guys it's true! Collection Lasting Perfection concealer is creamy, thick and has such high coverage. Also a steal for £4.19.
Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer
Powder

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent is cheap, cheerful and very good. May cake up, I've found it depends on the foundation you use! Not much else to say 'bout this!
Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Powder
Blusher

This has to be hands down, my Leona Lewis Limited Edition Blusher by Body Shop. More Spring time/Summer sheen to it I have yet to hit pan. Or make a dent. (Sorry for the faded packaging!)
Leona Lewis Limited Edition Body Shop Blush in Oh Deer! (Can now be found for £4, I bought it for £16 :( )
Bronzer

Not really got into bronzer this year. Maybe 2014 is year of the Bronzers? Have been eyeing the Bourjois Delice de Soleil chocolate bronzer... Let me know down below if you think it is good...

Eyeshadow

Maybelline pulled out ALL of the stops with their Colour Tattoo 24hr Cream Shadows being compared to the Beauty Giants of Chanel and Armani. Don't crease, great colour range. Not more you can ask for at a fiver for each!
Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo in Pink Gold and in On and On Bronze.
Eyeliner

Not much of a surprise to any of you, as I constantly go on about it! Supercat eyeliner Soap & Glory. Amazing. That's all I should need to say!
Soap&Glory Supercat Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black
Mascara

Maybelline the Falsies in Black Drama, a Highstreet Classic. Makes my lashes look like 'falsies'. Very apt don't you think? Great wand as it really works the mascara from the roots. Raved about by Tanya Burr and MissGlamorazzi (if you don't know who they are, have you been living under a rock? Haha) it is a must have to try and is liked rightly so.
Maybelline the Falsies Volum' Express in Black Drama Mascara
Lips

Rimmel Kate Moss in 03 won it for me, being rich and creamy on the lips. Very moisturising, pigmented and velvety. The PERFECT nude. Great price for great quality, definitely recommend and can't wait
to try the other colours.
Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 03
Skincare

I haven't done a review of this as I know most people are probably sick of hearing about it but, it is the best! *Sings* Bioderma! I was in Brugge in Belgium and hunted around a Pharmacy, found it and squealed! I think I was ripped off (20 euros) but it was definitely worth the 500ml bottle! Wipes off waterproof makeup and quenches your skins thirst. You literally need a drop or two on your cotton pad which will remove both your eyes makeup (either side of the pad) and one more for your face. A great lazy option for cleansing... Shhh!

Bioderma 500ml Sensibio H20
Nails

I have adored these two shades and the formulation of No7 polishes are of high end standard, I think. They are easily applied to the nails and have a stunning finish. Last a while. I have the two shades Milan and Violet. Milan being a glittery barbie pink and Violet being the classic purple with a hint of shimmer running through it.
No7 Polishes in Violet and Milan in Stay Perfect Formula
Hair

Hair products haven't really wowed me this year but I have adored my hair brush. From Head Jog, this is perfect for heated styling, detangling and sorting out your hair! Plus I love the colour (a subtle baby pink) and I just feel it is such a good brush. The bristles don't scratch my hair, but my hair is thick. My friends who have thinner hair tried this and it hurt their scalp as it scratched them :(. But I love it and feel it does the job for thick hair/scalped girls!
Sorry for all the hair in the brush! Head Jog Brush
Thank you all so much for reading my blog for the past 6 months! Have a great new year, Blog later!
